American Libraries News by E-mail

American Libraries offers weekly news reports via e-mail.

The service, available to ALA members only at no charge, will enable librarians and library supporters to read current news about censorship challenges, legislation, funding initiatives, technological developments, and international concerns at the end of each week.

To subscribe, follow these steps:

  1. Go to lists.ala.org.
  2. Enter "al_news" in the Search lists box.
  3. Click al_news@ala.org;
  4. Click Subscribe;
  5. Enter your email address and click Submit. A welcome message with your password will be sent to you. If these steps don't work, or you need other assistance, contact George Eberhart at geberhar@ala.org.

To manage your list subscriptions, go to lists.ala.org and log in using your e-mail address and password. If you subscribed before April 2007, when the list migrated to a new server, and have not joined any other lists since then, you will first need to have a password sent to you by clicking on "send me a password," and provide your e-mail address (please use the exact address from which you subscribed to this list), and one will be sent to you. Once logged in, you can turn your subscriptions on and off. If you have problems, please contact Matthew Ivaliotes, Internet Administrator, at mivaliotes@ala.org.
